Today: Education Director, The Virginia Symphony  
Speaker:
 Ernestine Dole                 

 Ernestine Dole heads the Virginia Symphony Education Department.  After retiring from the York County school system in June of 1998, she worked as an assistant in the Education Department and now serves as its director.  As Director of Education, Ms. Dole’s responsibilities include the planning and promoting of music concerts and a variety of programs for all ages. She works closely with local schools as well as private music teachers in the area, frequently collaborates with other arts organizations in the Hampton Roads area, and serves as a liaison with volunteers in the Virginia Symphony League.
Ernestine earned a BA from Baylor University and a degree for Secondary English certification from CNU.  She has 14 years experience teaching English at the secondary level encompassing World Literature, British Literature, and Anthology of Literature.  Ernestine is a past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society for women educators.  She often gives presentations about personal travel experiences, educational issues, and the Virginia Symphony.

Education -- Did You Know? Kiwanis International is broken into Districts, Divisions and individual clubs.  For example, we have 9 clubs within Division 23 of which we are a member.  24 Divisions are in the Capital District (VA, MD. DE & DC) with 202 clubs.  There are in excess of 80 Districts worldwide.

Announcements

-The first annual combined Div. 23 & 13 Council Meeting will be held on July 17.  There will be a Fish Fry and District Gov. Candidate Forum. The cost is $10 and the location is Hunting Park Pavilions & Tennis Courts in Newport News.  Meal & Meeting: 6:00 - 8:30 PM  Candidates for Gov. Elect: Warren Kane - Jack Stevens - Tom Varner will speak.  See Tom French for more details.
-District Convention will be held August 15-17 in Rockville, MD
- Kiwanis Is Donating Smiles ends July 31. For every $20.00 donation, an underprivileged child spends a free day at Busch Gardens. Send donations to Kiwanis Club Foundation PO Box 1265 Williamsburg, VA 23187 or contact Wilbur Davis
-Board meeting tomorrow, July 10 at 5:30 PM -- Williamsburg Landing.  All officers, board members and committee chairs are encouraged to attend.
