Today:  Ironman Triathlon  
Speaker:
 Bob Tubbs         
The program for today will be presented by Bob Tubbs, an organizer of the Ironman Triathlon that is hoped to be an annual event held in Williamsburg for a five year commitment. Last week, Williamsburg was chosen to be a finalist in the site competition for an Ironman Traithlon.  Originally from Rochester, NY, Bob Tubbs and his wife Grace are celebrating their first year as owners of The Cedars Bed and Breakfast.  Bob has twenty plus years in executive-level marketing,strategy, business & economic development, and technology. He now manages his own consulting firm that specializes in high-end events management. He has held executive positions at Xerox and Harris Corporation in business development, marketing and technology. With a partner, he founded a technology startup in 1995 and won an entrepreneurial award in 1996. He holds a BS in Technology Marketing & Distribution with High Honors from Rochester Institute of Technology. Two of his current consulting projects are working with area organizations on a regional economic development strategy focused on bringing sensor technology companies to the area, and pursuing a bid for Williamsburg to be the host site for an Ironman Triathlon. Later this week, he will compete in his first Ironman Triathlon competition in Lake Placid.

Education -- Did You Know?

Membership:  A sentence inadvertently omitted from the "Did You Know" of July 2 was the most important sentence of the message. It is the very basis of the success of our Club and all of us need to think about this and commit to this principle.
"All members need to be participating members and support our projects!"

- Kiwanis Summer Picnic -- this Saturday, July 19 - 4 to 7PM, Kingsmill Pavillion.  See David Bowditch for more details.
-There will be a preliminary Shrimp Feast meeting after today's meeting for all Shrimp Feast committee chairs and the fund raising committee.  Shrimp Feast will be held on September 13.
-District Convention will be held August 15-17 in Rockville, MD
- Kiwanis Is Donating Smiles ends July 31. For every $20.00 donation, an underprivileged child spends a free day at Busch
