Today: Status of Health Insurance

Speaker: Dr. John Marsh

Dr. John Marsh is a native of Williamsburg. He graduated from William and Mary and went on to medical school. After a distinguished career, he retired recently as Chief of Oncology at Yale Medical School -- and returned to Williamsburg. Dr. Marsh is a volunteer at Old Towne Medical Center and with other civic organizations as well. The topic of his presentation is on the current state of health insurance. She is married and has one son.

Education -- Did You Know?

Iodine Deficiency Part 2 of 3

Iodine deficiency is the world's most prevalent cause of preventable mental disability with more than 1.5 billion people in at least 110 countries at risk. It causes stillbirth, severe mental retardation, and physical disabilities in infants born to iodine deficient mothers. The solution is simple. Iodization of salt not only can prevent these disorders but can reverse some existing conditions, as well as improve mental capabilities and productivity in iodine deficient populations.

- For those members who weren't present at the January 29
meeting, details of the price increase negotiations were presented. The new
price will be $10.75, effective 1 February. We think our leadership team did
a respectable job in reducing the price from $15.00 (proposed by CW) to
$10.75. For these details, we encourage each of you to read the statement
that will enclosed with your February statement/invoice. Specific questions?
