Today: DNA Legislation

Debbie Smith is a Virginia native -- and resident of Williamsburg for 27 years.  Her most recent job was office manager of a small business.  She resigned to promote legislation on the use of DNA evidence before the US Congress that bears her name.  Debbie became a rape survivor in March 1989.  Since that time she has traveled the country to speak in forums that benefit DNA research, rape victims or any aspect of this crime.  She is a frequent volunteer counselor to rape victims. She is married to a police detective lieutenant and they have raised two children.
