Speaker:    1st Sgt. Gary Cross, Jr. USMC                   

Sgt. Gary Cross entered the US Marine Corps in 1983.  He has served in a number of capacities with the USMC -- which include Operations Clerk, Close Combat Instructor;  Ordnance Technician during the first Gulf War, Platoon Sergeant in the Philippines, Detachment Commander in Nairobi, Kenya, Company Sgt. Major of the 2d Force Reconnaissance Company and Company 1stSgt for Bravo Company.  In November 2002, 1stSgt Cross was transferred to 2d Fast Company in Yorktown.  Awards include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ Gold Star);  Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ Gold Star) and the State Dept. Medal for Heroism.            
Sgt. Cross was a survivor of the 7 Aug 1998 bombing of the Embassy in Kenya.  His presentation will include the events that took place at ground zero in Kenya and what role Fast Marines have played in fighting the global war on terror.
