Today:    Colin Campbell       CEO, President CW

Colin G. Campbell is chairman, president, and chief executive officer of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He was elected to the Board in 1989, and became its chairman nine years later. His appointment to the additional responsibilities of president and chief executive was in April 2000. Until July 31, 2000, Mr. Campbell was president of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, a position he assumed in September 1988. The Fund was created by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who was also the benefactor of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Mr. Campbell is a graduate of Cornell University, and Columbia University School of Law. Before joining the Fund, he was president of Wesleyan University, a position he held for eighteen years. Mr. Campbell came to Wesleyan in 1967 from his post as vice president of the Planning and Government Affairs Division of the American Stock Exchange. Before joining the stock exchange, he was an associate at the law firm of Cummings & Lockwood of Stamford, Connecticut.
Among his civic activities, Mr. Campbell is a trustee of the New-York Historical Society and immediate past chairman of the PBS Board of directors. Mr. Campbell also serves on several corporate boards of directors.
Mr. Campbell is married to Nancy N. Campbell. They have four adult children and five grandchildren.

Tips to Ensure a Successful Guest Experience, Part 2 of 2

8. Explain to guests in advance Kiwanis’ protocol and your club’s normal agenda.9. Run an efficient club meeting, starting and ending on time, and leaving adequate time for the speaker’s presentation.10. Advise the speaker in advance about his/her allotted time and when the meeting must end. Convey to members that when the president stands up, there is no more time for questions.11. Explain or avoid Kiwanis jargon during club meetings.12. Have membership information packets available.13. Make follow-up calls to guests within a few days.14. Send a thank-you note to speakers.
