Education --IODINE DEFICIENCY - Part 3 of 3: The effects of iodine deficiency in children are lowered IQ, impaired learning and preschool performance, mental retardation, delayed motor development, growth stunting, lack of energy, muscular disorders, speech defects, hearing defects, and paralysis. Barely one teaspoon of iodine, consumed over a lifetime is critical to mental and physical health, indeed, life itself. Without iodine, the brain and nervous system of both young and unborn children cannot develop properly.
