Special Announcement:
-Special Announcement:
-The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg Foundation will hold its annual meeting with the club membership on Wednesday, November 10. The Foundation is qualified by the IRS as a Section 501(C) 3 organization. All grants are currently made only to IRS qualified organizations. In order to sponsor the highly successful Polo Cup there was a requirement that it be operated by a Section 501(C ) 3 organization. All members of the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club are also members of our foundation regardless of financial support. Please help us grow the body of funds that we utilize to make discretionary grants to deserving organizations serving the Williamsburg community.

The funding procedures of the Foundation for making grants has been set to coincide with the Kiwanis Club's funding activities and to provide additional funding for organizations for which the Club itself may not be able to provide funds. In order to accomplish this goal
the Foundation receives grant applications throughout the year. The deadline for submitting these applications is August 1 [same deadline date as the Kiwanis Club] of each year. The grants committee of the Foundation will make a funding recommendation to the Foundation's board so that grants can be made not later than October of each year. If any member of the Club is aware of any "qualified" organization which intends to submit a grant, they should request a grant application form by either mailing a request to Stuart Spirn, Foundation Vice President and chair of the grant committee at Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg Foundation P.O. Box 5533 or e-mail a request to stuspirn@strt-law.com.

The application dates are set up to consider those grant applicants who have not been funded by the Kiwanis Club through its fund raising activities and to give all applicants sufficient time to submit a grant application. In order to be eligible to receive a grant an organization must be a qualified entity approved by the IRS. As a matter of process it has been decided by the Foundation Board that it will refer all grant requests to the Kiwanis Club Board for its endorsement prior to considering the application for a grant. This is to prevent the duplication of requests from both the Kiwanis Club and the Kiwanis Club Foundation. If the club or any other entity wishes to endorse the grant applicant to receive funds, the Foundation board will receive such endorsements and seriously consider them in making its grants.
